Configuring the Office 365 app authentication

After you create and register the Microsoft Office 365 app, you must use the Email Security - Server appliance Web UI or the CLI to configure the app to authenticate with the synchronization APIs in Microsoft Graph.

Prerequisites

  • You have administrator access to the Email Security - Server appliance.

  • You have the following information that was generated during registration of the Office 365 app (described in Registering an Office 365 app and configuring permissions on ):

    <app-id>

    The application (client) ID that was displayed in the Overview page.

    <secret-key>

    The client secret password key you created in the Certificates & secrets page.

    <tenant-id>

    The directory (tenant) ID that was displayed in the Overview page.

To configure the Office 365 app authentication using the appliance Web UI:
  1. Log in to the Email Security - Server appliance Web UI as an administrator.

  2. Choose Settings > Remediation.

  3. Enter Office 365 app properties you generated at the Azure portal:

    • App ID―Enter the <app-id> value.

    • Secret Key―Enter the <secret-key> value.

    • Tenant ID―Enter the <tenant-id> value.

  4. Click Update.

To configure the Office 365 app authentication using the appliance CLI:
  1. Log in to the Email Security - Server appliance CLI as an administrator and go to configure mode.

    hostname > enable
    hostname # configure terminal
  2. Use these commands to specify the Office 365 app properties you generated at the Azure portal:

    • o365 config app-id <app-id>

    • o365 config secret <secret>

    • o365 config tenant-id <tenant-id>

  3. Verify your changes:

    hostname (config) # show o365 config
  4. Save your changes.

    hostname # write memory
