# Install Boldon James Classifier components

Installing Boldon James Classifier components enables data classification, compliance enforcement, and integration across Microsoft Office and Windows Explorer.

#### Prerequisites

Verify the following before installation:

- Operating System: Supported 64-bit or 32-bit Microsoft Windows environment.
- Software frameworks:
  - .NET Framework - 4.7.1 or later
  - .NET Core - 8.0 or later
- Administrative Rights: Local administrator privileges are required to modify registry settings and install IIS features.
- Internet Information Services (IIS): Required on the server hosting the Classifier Administration Server. Ensure the following IIS features are enabled before running the administration installer:
  - Web Server Engine: IIS-WebServerRole / IIS-WebServer
  - Common HTTP Features: IIS-DefaultDocument, IIS-HttpErrors, IIS-HttpCompressionDynamic
  - Application Development (.NET): IIS-NetFxExtensibility45, IIS-ASPNET45, NetFx4Extended-ASPNET45
  - Health and Diagnostics: IIS-LoggingLibraries
  - Security: IIS-WindowsAuthentication

Caution: The Administration Server installer stops automatically if the required IIS features are missing from the host system.

#### Task

Follow these steps to complete the installation and configuration process.

1. Download the setup package and base bundle files from the official Trellix Download Center to your local machine.
2. Open the downloaded base bundle folder.

1. Run the **setup.exe** installer in each of the following component subfolders:
  - Classifier API: Core classification engine.
  - Email and Office Classifier: Microsoft Office document and email handling.
  - File Classifier: General file classification and Windows Explorer integration.
2. Run the automated registry batch script (**boldon-james-registry-setup.bat**), located inside the downloaded base bundle folder, to configure keys under:
  - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Boldon James\ConfigManager for 64 bit
  - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Boldon James\ConfigManager for 32-bit compatibility.

> Note
> 
> If the Boldon James overlay icon does not appear in Windows Explorer, add 8 empty spaces before the **FileClassifierPlusIconOverlay** registry entries in boldon-james-overlay-fix.bat file.

1. Copy the **bjconfig** folder to your primary drive root: **C:\xxxx_yy**.

Note: Choose any name for the folder.

To verify successful installation, restart the machine. Right-click any file in Windows Explorer and confirm that Classify appears in the context menu.
