A significant improvement in Drive Encryption 8.1.0 and later is the seamless enrollment experience.
Prior to Drive Encryption 8.1.0, rolling out TPM autoboot required the end-user to authenticate at the PBA screen two or three times. This was necessary for the system to gather stable PCR measurements before sealing the encryption key.
This end-user interaction is no longer required. Drive Encryption now manages this initialization seamlessly in the background. The system uses a form of temporary autoboot while it gathers and finalizes the PCR measurements. For the end-user, the rollout is transparent, with no extra PBA prompts.
