Upgrade to Drive Encryption 8.0.x

Before upgrading clients from Drive Encryption 7.x.x to Drive Encryption 8.0.x, perform these tasks.

  1. Upgrade ePO - On-prem to minimum supported versions or later (ePO - On-prem 5.10.x)

  2. Upgrade to a supported, non-EOL version of Drive Encryption 7.x

  3. Upgrade to Trellix Agent to 5.8.0

Task

  1. Put the ePO - On-prem server down, back up the SQL server and ePO - On-prem server, then put the ePO - On-prem server up to back up your ePO - On-prem database. For more information, see the product documentation for your version of ePO - On-prem.

  2. Install the Drive Encryption 8.x extensions to the ePO - On-prem system.

  3. Check in the Drive Encryption 8.x package (DriveEncryption.zip) to the ePO - On-prem system.

  4. Run the LDAP Sync:Sync Across Users from LDAP task manually.

  5. Deploy the Drive Encryption 8.x software packages to the client system.

  6. Restart the client system after the deployment task is completed.

After restarting the client system, the new files and drivers are in place. The Drive Encryption 8.x encryption status dialog box shows the status as Active throughout the upgrade process.
