Change NGCP password using the command line

You can use the command line to change the NGCP password.

Note

This feature is only available from Trellix ESM 11.6.12 and later.

  • Open the command line and run one of the following commands:

    1. To change only the user password, run ChangeNGCPPW.sh -p /tmp/passwordfile.

    2. To change the user and root password, run ChangeNGCPPW.sh -p /tmp/passwordfile -r.

The following table describes important files and their functions when resetting the NGCP password using the command line.

File name

Description

/usr/local/bin/ChangeNGCPPW.sh

This file takes the NGCP password as an input, and the optional argument -r to update root user password.

/usr/local/bin/GenPWHash

A Free Pascal executable file used to generate the password hash for the NGCP user.

/var/log/resetngcppw.log

A high-level logging file that contains the user_rec_backup_<timestamp> filename and current password hash details.

/var/log/user_rec_backup_<timestamp>

A backup file that contains the password value before the password is changed. If there is an issue when you change a password, run the following command to revert the password:

nquery -d esm -q 'update users set PW=<Password_Hash_from_backup_file> where name = "NGCP"'
