Switch to sync mode

You can switch from async mode to sync mode using these commands in your standalone Mac.

Before you begin

You must have administrator rights on the system you intend to change the mode.

Task

  1. Open a Terminal window, run the following commands in the given order.

  2. Disable Threat Prevention in async mode:

    sudo /usr/local/McAfee/AntiMalware/VSControl stopoas

  3. Change Threat Prevention to sync mode:

    sudo /usr/local/McAfee/AntiMalware/VSControl switch-mode sync

  4. Enable Threat Prevention in sync mode:

    sudo /usr/local/McAfee/AntiMalware/VSControl startoas

  5. If you have installed Adaptive Threat Protection, then run these commands:

    1. Stop Adaptive Threat Protection: sudo /usr/local/McAfee/atp/bin/ATPControl stop

    2. Change Adaptive Threat Protection to sync mode: sudo /usr/local/McAfee/atp/bin/ATPControl switch-mode sync

    3. Start Adaptive Threat Protection: sudo /usr/local/McAfee/atp/bin/ATPControl start
