# System requirements

Systems must meet specific hardware and software specification to install and use the software. Review the requirements before installing or upgrading the software.

### Hardware

| Component | Requirements |
| --- | --- |
| Processors | - Intel x86_64 architecture-based processor that supports Intel Extended Memory 64-bit technology (Intel EM64T) - AMD x86_64 architecture-based processor with AMD 64-bit technology |
| Memory | Minimum: 2 GB RAM Recommended: 4 GB RAM |
| Disk space | - Installation directory — Minimum 1.7 GB - `/opt/McAfee` directory — Minimum 750 MB - `/tmp` directory — Minimum 200 MB free space - `/var` directory — Minimum 3 GB partition, 750 MB free space |

### Operating systems

This release supports these additional operating systems.

- RedHat Enterprise Linux 8.3
- Ubuntu 20.10

### Management platform

- Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator - On-premises — 5.9.x or later.
- Trellix Agent — 5.6.4 (64-bit) or later.
- Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS) ePO extension update:

  - Endpoint Security Platform extension 10.7.0.566
  - Endpoint Security Threat Prevention extension 10.7.0.840
  - Endpoint Security Firewall extension 10.7.0.541
- Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS) license extension — 10.6.6.101 or later.

### Python modules

> Important
> 
> Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS) for Linux 10.7.x requires python 2.7 or later.

Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS) for Linux uses `validate-prefs-xml.py` module to check if there is any corruption in the `prefs.xml`. The migration script `mfetp.py` is used to migrate DAT, policies, and engines from previous versions during upgrade. Both of these scripts require `python-xml` or `python-lxml` modules to run.
