About enabling SmartVision

Prev Next

When deploying SmartVision appliances, you must be aware of the following behaviors:

Default Settings

  • SmartVision is enabled by default on SmartVision Edition appliances.

  • On SmartVision-capable Network Security sensors and integrated appliances, SmartVision is disabled by default.

  • Note

The Web UI Alerts > SmartVision page and Settings > SmartVision page are accessible even when SmartVision is disabled.

Enabling and disabling

  • On SmartVision-capable Network Security sensors and integrated appliances, or if SmartVision has been explicitly disabled, you must use the Setting > SmartVision Configuration page or CLI commands to explicitly enable SmartVision features.

  • On SmartVision Edition appliances, features are enabled by default.

If SmartVision has been explicitly disabled on a SmartVision Edition sensor, you must use the Setting > SmartVision Configuration page or CLI commands to explicitly enable SmartVision features.

  • SmartVision features and data exfiltration detection are enabled and disabled independently of one another.

  • Before you deploy a SmartVision appliance to a production environment, make sure that the average events per second (EPS) measured on the appliance does not exceed the recommended maximum EPS.

See Checking the average EPS using the CLI.
