Configure the Manager Appliance

After you have installed the Manager Appliance on the rack, connect the appliance to the power source and to your network. Connect a serial cable (null model cable DB9_F to DB9_F type), which is needed to configure the Manager Appliance.

  1. Log in to the Manager shell using the following credentials:

    • Username: admin

    • Password: admin

      Note

      Trellix strongly recommendsthat you change the password immediately. For more information on the password control, see the section Configure password complexity settings in Trellix Intrusion Prevention System Product Guide.

  2. To update network parameters, execute configuration jump-start command to update network parameters and open the Trellix configuration wizard. Next, enter the network parameters as shown below:

    Parameters

    Description

    Hostname

    Enter the hostname to be assigned to the Manager server.

    Admin password

    Enter the password to be assigned to the Manager server.

    Next, confirm the password assigned to the Manager server.

    Enable remote access for admin user

    Enter Yes or No.

    Use DHCP on ether1 interface

    Enter Yes or No.

    Use zeroconf on ether1 interface

    Enter Yes or No.

    Primary IPv4 address and masklen

    Enter the primary IPv4 address and mask length.

    Default gateway

    Enter the default gateway IP address

    Primary DNS server

    Enter the primary DNS server IP address.

    Domain name

    Enter the domain name.

    Enable fenet service

    Enter Yes to enable the fenet service and No to disable the service.

    Enable fenet license update service

    Enter Yes to enable the fenet license service and No to disable the service.

    Sync appliance time with fenet

    Enter Yes or No.

    Enable NTP

    Enter Yes to enable the NTP and No to disable the NTP.

    Update licenses from fenet

    Enter Yes to update the fenet license service and No to disable the service.

    Enable IPv6 on management interface

    Enter Yes to enable IPv6 address and No to disable the IPv6 address on the management interface.

    Send a request to be managed by CMS

    Enter Yes or No.

    After executing the commands, hit enter to save the changes and exit the configuration wizard.

    Tip

    The CLI ipsmanager enable allows you to enable the Manager service. You can disable the service by issuing no ipsmanager enable command.
