Configuring the default single-interface LAN option using the CLI

Use the commands in this section to configure the basic settings for a single-interface Central Management System cluster in a LAN deployment that uses the default ether1 interface.

Configuring the primary node

Enable HA mode:

  1. Make the HA feature available:

    node1-hostname (config) # cms feature ha available

  2. Enable HA mode:

    node1-hostname (config) # ha enable

Verify and save your changes:

Start the cluster engine:

Configuring the secondary node

Enable HA mode:

  1. Make the HA feature available:

    node1-hostname (config) # cms feature ha available

  2. Enable HA mode:

    node1-hostname (config) # ha enable

Add the node to the cluster:

Verify and save your changes:

Start the cluster engine:

Note

You can perform a manual failover to test the cluster.Failing over manually using the CLI

Examples

The following example configures the primary node in the default single-interface cluster configuration.

node1 (config) # cms feature ha available
node1 (config) # ha enable
Process of enabling CM HA is initiated
...				
node1 (config) # show ha configuration
...
node1 (config) # write memory
node1 (config) # ha engine restart
...
node1 (config) # show ha status
...

The following example configures the secondary node in the default single-interface cluster configuration.

node2 (config) # cms feature ha available
node2 (config) # ha enable
Process of enabling CM HA is initiated
node2 (config) # ha node join 172.16.127.144
Enter password for admin account on primary node: ********
Node joining has started
Please check the status with CLI 'show ha configuration'.
