For Sensor failover, connect two NS9600 Sensors using the appropriate cables. These two Sensors must be running the same software version.
You need to purchase the required number of QSFP28 transceivers and cables as listed in the table below before you configure an HA pair. These cables are additional hardware required to support failover communication between two NS9600 Sensors.
Sensor Model | Port to connect the HA pair | Transceiver and cable requirements for failover |
|---|---|---|
NS9600 | G0/1 | QSFP28 Direct Attach Copper (DAC) |
A single NS9600 appliance ships with two 1m QSFP28 DAC cables. This can be used for failover connection if the failover sensors are placed within 1m.
If you need to configure HA pair between Sensors kept at distance greater than 1m, consider the following options:
For distances up to 3m, purchase 100G QSFP28 DAC from Trellix.
For distances greater than 3m, purchase 100G QSFP28 transceivers from Trellix and fiber cables from external vendor for 40G and 60G Sensor capacity. For 20G Sensor capacity, you could purchase either 40G QSFP+ transceivers or 100G QSFP28 transceivers from Trellix and fiber cables from external vendor.
While configuring the HA Pair:
Plug the cable appropriate for use with your QSFP28 transceivers into port G0/1 of the active NS9600 Sensor.
Connect the other end of the cable into port G0/1 of the standby NS9600 Sensor.
