Prerequisites:
If you are connecting a copper fail-open switch, make sure that you have two Cat 5/Cat 5e Ethernet cables.
If you are connecting a fiber fail-open switch, make sure that you have two LC-LC cables.

Callout | Description |
|---|---|
1 | Passive fail-open switch |
2 | Fail-Open Control port (RJ-11) |
3 | Control port on the fail-open switch (RJ-45) |
4 | Control cable (RJ-45 to RJ-11) |
5 | Connection to the network device (inside) |
6 | Connection to the network device (outside) |
7 | Connection to Monitoring port G0/1 of the Sensor (inside) |
8 | Connection to Monitoring port G0/2 of the Sensor (outside) |
The steps provide the procedure for connections of both copper and fiber fail-open switches.
Connect the inside network cable connector to the Cat 5/Cat 5e/LC port, labeled Network A on the fail-open switch.
Connect the other end of this cable to the corresponding network device.
Connect the outside network cable connector into the Cat 5/Cat 5e/LC, labeled Network B on the fail-open switch.
Connect the other end of this cable to the corresponding network device.
Result: The fail-open switch is now connected to network devices for the inside network and outside networks. Your next step is to connect the fail-open switch to the Sensor.
