Deployment of Trellix IPS Manager

To deploy an IPS Manager in GCP, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Google Cloud and select Compute Engine.

  2. In the left panel, under Virtual machines, select VM instances and click create instance.

    The Machine configuration page is displayed in Create an instance window.

  3. On the Machine configuration page, enter the following details:

    1. Name: Define the name for your Manager instance.

      Tip

      The instance name must begin with a letter. It can contain only lowercase letters and hyphens (-) as special characters.

    2. Region: Select the required region from the drop-down.

    3. Zone: Select the required zone from the drop-down.

    4. Go to General purpose tab and select N1 series from the list.

    5. In the PRESET tab of Machine type section, choose n1-standard-4 (4 vCPU, 2 core, 15 GB memory).

  4. Navigate to the OS and storage page and enter the following details:

    1. In the Operating system and storage section, click CHANGE.

      The Boot disk window is displayed.

    2. Go to CUSTOM IMAGES tab, select the latest version of the Manager trellix-vips-manager-1117xx from Image drop-down and click SELECT.

  5. Navigate to Networking to define network and subnetwork for your Manager instance.

    Go to Network interfaces section and define the following parameters:

    1. Network: Define the required network from the drop-down.

    2. Subnetwork: Define the appropriate subnetwork from the drop-down.

    3. Network interface card: Select VirtIO from the drop-down.

  6. Navigate to Security, and expand MANAGE ACCESS drop-down. Now, go to Add manually generated SSH keys and click Add item. Enter the RSA key in the SSH key 1 field.

  7. Review the configuration details provided for deploying the instance and then click CREATE.

    Note

    Trellix recommends you reboot the Manager once it is up and running.
