Manage Central Manager details

Before you configure the Central Manager details in the Manager, you should configure the Manager details in the Central Manager. Establishing trust between Managers and Central Manager includes the following order of steps:

Adding Manager to the Central Manager

To configure the Manager details in the Central Manager, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Central Manager, select Devices → Manager Management → Add and Remove Managers.

  2. Click GUID-A6ACF06E-8B7C-4F33-9335-99E4B1FDEB3D-low.png.

  3. Type the Manager Name and the Shared Secret (repeat at Confirm Shared Secret).

  4. Select the required severity level to be displayed in the Central Manager from Alerts from this Manager to Show in the Central Manager drop-down list.

  5. Enter the number of days in the Maximum Number of (Most Recent) Days of Alerts to Show textbox (Default value -15).

  6. Enter the number of alerts you want in the Maximum Number of Alerts to Show field (Default value - 100000).

    Maximum Number of (Most Recent) Days of Alerts to Show and Maximum Number of Alerts to Show provide a combined option for limiting the number of alerts that are displayed in the Central Manager Attack Log.

  7. (Optional) Enter the contact information and location.

  8. Select Yes to enable synchronization at Synchronization Enabled.

  9. Click Save to save the configuration, and view the newly added Manager in the Managers page. This action completes the first configuration step to enable trusted communication between your Manager and Central Manager. Refer to Configure Managers in the Central Manager for detailed information.

Configuring Central Manager details in the Manager

Once the Central Manager is configured with the Manager details, you need to specify the same details of Central Manager in the Manager. This completes the task of trust establishment between the Manager and Central Manager, and allows the Central Manager to synchronize with Manager and access its configuration.

To add a Manager to Central Manager, do the following:

Steps:

  1. Select Manager → <Admin Domain Name> → Setup → Central Manager.

  2. Type the same Manager Name as you have configured in the Central Manager.

    The Name must begin with a letter. The length of the name is between 1 to 40 characters. Valid characters include numbers, letters, underscores, and space.

  3. Enter Central Manager IP Address. This can be either IPv4 or IPv6 address.

  4. Enter the same Shared Secret as you have configured in the Central Manager for the corresponding Manager. Repeat the secret at Confirm Shared Secret.

    The Shared Secret must be a minimum of 8 characters and maximum of 64 characters in length. The Shared Secret cannot start with an exclamation mark nor have any spaces. Secret parameters that can be used in Manager are:

    • 26 alpha: upper and lower case (a,b,c,...z and A, B, C,...Z)

    • 10 digits: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

    • 32 symbols: ~ ` ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = [ ] { } \ | ; : " ' , . <? /

    Caution

    The Manager Name and Shared Secret provided in the Central Manager must match while configuring Central Manager details in the Manager for the trust establishment between a Manager and Central Manager to be successful. If not, the Manager will not be able to register itself with the Central Manager.

  5. Type the Contact Information and Location (Optional).

  6. Synchronization Enabled is enabled by default. Select No to disable synchronization with Central Manager.

  7. Click Configure to complete the Central Manager-Manager trust establishment process.

    Trust establishment to Central Manager may take a while. You will need to Refresh the page to see the latest settings. See Viewing Central Manager details for more information.
