Notes about upgrading from 9.1, 9.2, 10.1 to 10.1.7.55

With this release, the Device Manager user experience is enhanced to simplify and consolidate various Sensor configuration options in a single grid available at Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. A few key changes are listed below:

  • In the Device Manager grid view, the first column Name is locked to ensure the Sensor name remains visible as you scroll horizontally to view the 40+ columns of information for each Sensor.
  • For vNSP Clusters, the Name column displays the name of the member Sensors.
  • The following new columns are visible in Device Manager grid view for each Sensor:
    • Connection Status: Displays the status between the Sensor and the Manager.
    • Channel Status: Displays the name of the following channels and its status whether "Up" or "Down"
    • The following new sub-columns are visible in the Device Details column:
      • Hardware: Displays the current hardware version running on the Sensor.
      • Reboot Status: Displays if the Sensor requires a reboot.
      • Upgrade Status: Displays if the latest software version is installing on the Sensor or downloading the latest software version to the Manager before installing it on the Sensor.
      • vNSP Cluster: Displays the name of the vNSP Cluster.
      • vNSP Probe: Displays the vNSP Probe version running on the member Sensor.
      • Cloud Cluster Id: Displays the Cluster ID for the vNSP Clusters.
      • Default Gateway: Displays the IP address of the default gateway configured on the Sensor.
      • FIPS Mode: Displays if FIPS mode is enabled or disabled.
    • Health Indicators is renamed to System Health and displays the following new sub-columns:
      • Overall Health: Displays the overall health of the system.
      • Internal Health: Displays the Sensor health.
      • Physical Ports: Displays if the ports are operating normally or abnormally.
    • The following new sub-columns are visible in the Faults column:
      • Total: Displays the number of unacknowledged faults generated for the device.
      • Critical: Displays the number of critical faults generated for the device.
      • Error: Displays the number of error faults generated for the device.
      • Warning: Displays the number of warning faults generated for the device.
      • Info: Displays the number of info faults generated for the device.
    • Deployment column is renamed to Sync and the following changes are visible in this column:
      • A new sub-columnStatus displays the synchronization state of the Sensor.
      • The Last Deployment sub-column is renamed to Last Sync.
  • The vNSP Controllers and vNSP Clusters tabs are now consolidated within the Device Manager page.
  • In the top right tool bar of the Device Manager grid view, a new checkbox Include Child Domains is available. On selecting this checkbox, Sensors configured in the child domain are also displayed in the Sensors tab.
  • Status icons and tooltips are available for various columns to provide more information on the Sensors.
  • Information that is immediately available is displayed on the Device Manager grid view and options where the Manager is still acquiring data is displayed as loading. The page refreshes automatically once the data is available.
  • When you double-click a selected device in the Sensors tab, the Details panel appears on the right enabling you to view and modify the Sensor configurations. You can also view and modify these Sensor configuration options from Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Devices → <Device Name> → Summary.
  • In the Sensors tab, you can click the tooltip icon for a fault to open the Faults window. The faults are displayed based on your selection in the Device Manager grid view. On selecting Clear All Filters, the Faults window displays all the faults generated for the selected Sensor. You can click < Back to return to the Device Manager grid view.
  • In the Sensors tab, you can click the links on Inspection and Physical Ports columns to directly navigate to Layer 2 Bypass cofiguration node and Physical Ports pages to modify the configurations.
  • Several other Sensor configuration options are available in the bottom tool bar of the Device Manager grid view:
    • The options and are available within the Sensors tab and HA Pairs tab to add and remove devices. Also, multiple devices can be deleted at the same time.
    • An option Sync is available in the Sensors tab to deploy configuration changes for a single device or multiple devices at the same time.
    • An option Other Actions is available in the Sensors tab to reboot and shut down the Sensor, reset the Sensor CLI password, upgrade the Sensor software version, and export the current sync file to the local machine when the Sync Node is set to Indirect.

Terminology updates in the UI

This release contains the following terminology updates in the Manager UI:

Options Prior to 10.1.7.55 10.1.7.55 and later
Add and Remove Devices Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Add and Remove Devices. Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager.

You can and devices from Sensors, HA Pairs, and Stacks tabs.

Failover Pairs Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Failover Pairs. HA Pairs tab is added in Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager.
Deploy Pending Changes Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Deploy Pending Changes. Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. Select the required Sensor from the Sensors tab and click Sync.

A Sync: <Device name> window for a single device and Bulk Sync for multiple devices appears. Select the configurations required and click Sync.

Reboot Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Devices → <Device Name> → Maintenance → Reboot. Additionally, you can also reboot the device from Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. Select the Sensors tab. Click Other Actions and select Reboot.
Shut Down Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Devices → <Device Name> → Maintenance → Shut Down. Additionally, you can also shut down the device from Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. Select the required Sensor from Sensors tab. Click Other Actions and select Shut Down.
Reset CLI Password Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Devices → <Device Name> → Summary. Click and select Reset CLI Password. Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. Select the Sensors tab. Click Other Actions and select Reset CLI Password.
Deploy Device Software Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Deploy Device Software. Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. Select the Sensors tab. Click Other Actions and select Upgrade Device Software.
Offline Upgrade Files Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Deploy Device Software and click Offline Upgrade Files. Go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Global → Device Manager. Select the Sensors tab. Click Other Actions and select Export Sync File.
Edit device information in Summary page. For standalone Sensors, go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Devices → <Device Name> → Summary and click .

For Sensors in a stack, go to Devices → <Admin Domain Name> → Devices → <Device Name> → Member Sensors → <Stackname-node id> → Summary and click .

In the Summary page, several monitors such as System Health, Sync, Protections, Faults, and Device Details are available.

You can change the deployment mode configuration from Sync monitor.

You can also edit Shared Secret, Confirm Shared Secret, Contact Information, Location, and Comment details.
