Remote Monitoring and Management for the Linux-based Manager Appliance

This procedure guides the configuration of Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) for the Linux-based Manager Appliance. To begin configuration, you must first access the device's CLI:

  • Connect to the physical serial port on the back of the appliance.

    OR

  • Connect directly to the appliance's Trellix OS configuration interface.

    Tip

    IPMI user passwords are set to a random value by default and must be reset in the CLI.

Setting IPMI user password

  • At the command prompt, use the following command to set the IPMI user password.

    ipmi user set password <password>

    Example: IPSManager (config) # ipmi user set password Trellix123! Set User Password command successful (user 2)

Configuring IPMI network parameters

You can configure the network parameters using either DHCP for dynamic assignment or static IP addressing.

  1. Use DHCP for dynamic IP assignment

    1. Enable IPv4 networking for IPMI.

      ipmi enable nwtype ipv4
    2. Set the IPMI LAN IP source to DHCP.

      ipmi lan ipsrc dhcp
  2. Use static IP assignment

    1. Enable IPv4 networking for IPMI.

      ipmi enable nwtype ipv4
    2. Set the static default gateway for the IPMI LAN.

      ipmi lan defgw 10.10.10.11
    3. Set the static IP address for the IPMI LAN.

      ipmi lan ipaddr 10.10.10.12
