Resetting the IPMI interface using the CLI

This procedure describes how to reset the IPMI interface.

Prerequisites
  • Admin access to the IVX appliance.

If the IPMI interface stops working, follow these steps to reset it. You might need to schedule a maintenance window to do this.

To reset the IPMI interface:
  1. Go to CLI configuration mode:

    hostname > enable
    hostname # configure terminal
  2. Reload the IPMI firmware:

    hostname (config) # ipmi firmware reload cold
  3. Wait five minutes.

  4. Check whether the IPMI interface is up:

    hostname (config) # show ipmi
  5. If the IPMI interface is down:

    1. Shut down the appliance:

      hostname (config) # reload halt
    2. Unplug all power cables.

    3. Wait 90 seconds.

    4. Plug in the power cables.

    5. Push the power button to restart the appliance.
