Sending SNMP traps

Prev Next

The Central Management System appliance and the Network Security appliances in the HA pair send Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) data to convey abnormal conditions to administrative computers that monitor and control them. The administrative computers are called SNMP managers.

  • If SNMP is configured on the Central Management System appliance, by default the Central Management System appliance pushes the nxha-health-failure event (known as a trap) to the SNMP manager.

  • If SNMP is configured on the Network Security appliances, you can use the snmp-server notify event ha-status-change command to enable the appliances to push the ha-status-change event to the SNMP manager. The ha-status-change event pertains to the restricted license, and is pushed for changes such as when the grace period starts, the remaining days in the grace period changes, and the restricted license expires.

Note

For details about configuring SNMP and enabling and disabling events, see the Central Management System Administration Guide and Network Security System Administration Guide.
