You can upgrade the vIPS controller with the new AMI for the controller. To upgrade the controller, you should launch new instances of the controller with the new AMI and existing user data. The old instance of the controller should be deleted.
Note
When the controller is upgraded, the instances protected by it will be upgraded to the virtual probe version bundled with the new controller software. This will be done automatically by the controller once the upgrade is complete.
The environment after an upgrade of the controller can be as follows:
If you upgrade the Manager to the latest Manager software version, the controller has to be upgraded to the latest controller software version.
For a vIPS controller, launch a new controller instance with the latest software version along the existing controller user data. Terminate the controller with the older software versions.
