Upgrading the Linux-based Manager instance in Public Cloud

The steps for upgrading the Linux-based Manager instance are as follows:

  1. Download the Linux based Manager upgrade file (setup.bin) from Trellix download server to a Linux machine in your public cloud environment.

  2. Log on to the Bitvise SSH Client using default user name and SSH key.

  3. Select the New SFTP Window.

  4. Copy the downloaded Linux based Manager upgrade file (setup.bin) in /tmp or /opt/scpfiles folder of your Manager server.

  5. Now, go to Bitvise SSH Client and select the New terminal console.

  6. Provide the manager status command and copy the Manager server instance ID.

  7. Type upgrade to begin the upgrade process of the Manager instance.

  8. After executing the above command, you must select option 2 when the Manager instance prompts the following options:

    Choose one of the below options
    1: scp setup from remote machine and install
    2: install the setup present on local machine
    Input [1] or [2] : <Select the upgrade method>
    
  9. You are prompted to provide file path of the upgrade file in the Linux based Manager server:

    Enter the path to the setup.bin file: <upgrade_file_filepath>

    Type /tmp/setup.bin or /opt/scpfiles/setup.bin (depending on the downloaded file location) and press Enter.

  10. When you are prompted, press Enter to continue with the upgrade process.

    Note

    You can cancel the upgrade process at any time by executing quit.

  11. Provide the Manager database user and press Enter. By default, the database user is admin.

  12. The installation wizard displays the current and upgrade versions of the Manager, press Enter.

  13. Provide the MariaDB root password and press Enter. By default, the MariaDB root password is the last six characters of the Manager server instance ID. Fox example, if the instance ID of the Manager server is 0ca8dad7e9d231c8b, the password is 231c8b.

  14. You must select a location for creating links from the following options:

    Where would you like to create links?
    1- Default: /root
    2- In your home folder
    3- Choose another location...
    
    4- Don't create links
    
    ENTER THE NUMBER OF AN OPTION ABOVE, OR PRESS <ENTER> TO ACCEPT THE DEFAULT: <Select the link location>
    
  15. Review the pre-installation summary and press Enter.

  16. Displays the location where the Linux-based Manager instance is deployed, press Enter.

  17. After completing the upgrade procedure, auto reboot of the server will be initiated. Thus, press Enter to exit the installer.

  18. You can check latest version of the Manager by executing show managerVersion after the auto reboot.
