Follow these steps to make sure that your setup is working as designed.

  1. Check the icons in the Manager beside the ports you have configured as in-line fail-open passive.

    They must show Up.

  2. Check the power LED on the fail-open switch.

    LED status

    Description

    ON

    The switch is not in fail-open mode and the Sensor monitoring ports are operating normally.

    OFF

    The switch is in fail-open mode and the Sensor monitoring ports are not monitoring traffic.

  3. Check the port status and operating mode status of the Gigabit inline fail-open mode.

    In-line Fail-Open - Passive (Paired with a/b)

    Green

    The in-line fail-open device is in in-line fail-open mode.

    Bypassing

    Yellow

    The in-line fail-open device is in in-line bypass mode. The bypass switch has been activated. The Sensor does not monitor during this time.

    Switch Absent

    Red

    Fail-open control is not present, control cable is not present, or bypass switch is not present. Verify that all three components are connected properly. If everything is connected correctly, check the Operational Status.

    Gray

    Not Applicable; the operating mode is not in in-line fail-open mode.
