The LEDs provide the status information of the server and the activity on its ports.
Power supply status LED
To indicate power supply status, there is a single bi-color LED. The LED operation is defined as:
Color | State | Status |
|---|---|---|
Green | Solid | Power supply is ON |
Blinking | Power supply is plugged in and turned off by the system. | |
Amber | Solid | Power supply is plugged in, and is in an abnormal state. The system might need service. |
Blinking | Power supply continues to operate with warning events:
| |
Off | Off | No AC power to all power supplies |
External RJ45 NIC Port LED
Each LAN has one bi-colored LED per port (RJ45 or SFP+) at the bottom of PCB. The LEDs indicates link speed.
LED Color | Description |
|---|---|
Amber | The data rate is <12Gbps |
Green | The data rate is 12Gbps |
System Status LED
Indicate the current health of the server system.
Color | State | Description |
|---|---|---|
Red | Solid on | An overheating condition has occurred |
Red | Blinking at 1Hz | Fan failure, check the inoperative fan |
Red | Blinking at 0.25Hz | Power failure, check the non-operational power supply |
Red | Blinking at 10Hz | CPLD recovery mode error |
Red | blinking at 10Hz and the rear UID LED is blue, blinking at 10Hz | CPLD recovery or update is in progress |
Blue | Solid | Unit ID is activated by the switch |
Blue | Blinking at 1Hz | Unit ID is activated by the BMC |
Blue | Blinking at 2Hz, and BMC Heartbeat LED on the motherboard is green | BMC is resetting |
Blue | Blinking at 4Hz | BMC is resetting factory defaults |
Blue | Blinking at 10Hz | BIOS/BMC is recovering or updating |
Drive Activity and Status LED
Each drive carrier includes separate LED indicators for drive Activity and drive Status.
Color | State | Behavior of device | |
|---|---|---|---|
Status LED | Off | Idle SATA drive installed | |
Blue | Solid on | Idle SAS drive installed | |
Blue | Blinking pattern | I/O activity |
Condition | Drive Type | Behavior | |
|---|---|---|---|
Green | Turn on with no drive activity | SAS | LED stays on |
SATA | LED stays off | ||
Turn on with drive activity | SAS | LED blinks off when processing a command | |
SATA | LED blinks on when processing a command | ||
Turn on and drive spun down | SAS | LED stays off | |
SATA | LED stays off | ||
Turn on and drive spinning up | SAS | LED blinks | |
SATA | LED stays off |
Power button
Toggles the system turn on and off.
LED | State | Description |
|---|---|---|
Green | Solid | System power is on. |
Green | Blinking at 4Hz | BMC/BIOS checking |
Red | Blinking (2 blinks red) at 4Hz, 1 pause at 2Hz (on-on-off-off) | BMC recovery or update is in progress |
Green | Blinking at 1Hz | BMC/BIOS flash not detected |
BMC Boot or Reset Status LED indicators
A baseboard management controller (BMC) boot occurs when AC power is first applied to the system. A BMC reset occurs after a BMC FW update, on receiving a BMC cold command, and on a BMC watchdog initiated reset.
BMC Boot or Reset State | UID LED | State | Status LED |
|---|---|---|---|
BMC reset | Blue | Blinks at 2Hz | Solid Green |
Restore defaults | Blue | Blinks at 4Hz | Off |
Update | Blue | Blinks at 10Hz | - |
