Add widgets to a custom dashboard

Prev Next

A custom dashboard must contain at least one widget, and you can add up to five widgets per custom dashboard.

To add a widget:

  1. Navigate to Main Menu Helix_MegaMenu.png > Dashboard > Custom.

  2. Open the custom dashboard and click Add Widget.

  3. On the Details tab of the Configure Widget window, do the following:

    1. Enter a mandatory title for the widget.

    2. Enter an optional description of what the widget does.

    3. Choose a Visualization Type to display the results of your search query.

  4. Click Next and on the Query tab of the Configure Widget window, do the following:

    1. From the Time Window menu, select a period of time in which your query should search.

    2. From the Results menu, select how many results to display in the widget.

    3. From the Width menu, select the horizontal size of the widget as a percentage of screen width.

    4. In the Search Query box, enter a TQL query.

      Tip

The TQL query must resolve successfully to create the widget. If the TQL query does not resolve, Helix will show an error message to help you fix the query. For example, depending on the Visualization Type you chose, you must include one of the following transforms in your TQL query:

      • Table: groupby or table

      • Pie: groupby or histogram

      • Bar: groupby or histogram

For more information about the TQL syntax, click Query Syntax Help in the Helix UI, or see the TQL Reference Guide.

    5. (Optional) Click Preview to view the widget on your custom dashboard without saving it.

  5. Click Save.
