Prerequisites:
It is assumed that you have a system installed with the required Windows Server 2016 flavor.
It is assumed that this system meets the other requirements discussed in Reviewing the upgrade requirements.
It is assumed that the 9.x Manager version meets the requirement to upgrade to 10.1. If not, first upgrade the Manager to the required 9.x version.
Steps:
Back up the 9.x database.
Upgrade the Manager to the latest 10.1 version.
See MDR Manager upgrade or standalone Manager upgrade according to your deployment. If Central Manager, see MDR Central Manager upgrade or Stand-alone Central Manager upgrade.
Back up the 10.1 Manager database.
On the new Windows Server 2016 server, install the same version of 10.1 Manager as in step-2.
On the network, replace the existing 9.x Manager server with the new 10.1 Manager.
Make sure that the IP address of the new Manager is the same as that of the existing one. If the IP address is different, the Sensors cannot communicate with the new Manager system. In that case, re-establish this communication from each Sensor.
Note
Trellix recommends to shut down the 9.x Manager server before assigning the same IP address to the new 10.1 Manager.
Restore the 10.1 database backup from the old 9.x Manager on the new 10.1 Manager.
For information about how to restore a database, see the latest Trellix Intrusion Prevention System Product Guide.
Log on to the new 10.1 Manager and go to → → → . Check the Faults tab to make sure everything works fine.
Back up the 10.1 database of the Manager server.
See Performing a database backup.
Note
In case of MDR, complete this procedure fully for one Manager before you proceed to the next.
