Monitoring the top 25 applications using the CLI

You can view the traffic statistics (traffic volume and session count) for client, service and payload applications using the Network Security appliance CLI.

Prerequisites

  • Log in to the Network Security CLI with a user account that is associated with Admin, Analyst, or Monitor access.

To see details of a specific traffic parameter for an application type:
  1. Enter CLI configuration mode.

    hostname > enable
    hostname # configure terminal
  2. Specify the application type and the traffic parameter and see the details.

    hostname (config) # show fedp app-id stats top-25 for <AppType> by <TrafficParameter>

    Enter one of the following values for AppType:

    • client-apps

    • service-apps

    • payload-apps

    Enter one of the following values for TrafficParameter:

    • session-count

    • traffic-volume

To view details of both traffic parameters for all application types:
  1. Enter CLI configuration mode.

    hostname > enable
    hostname # configure terminal
    
  2. See traffic parameter details for all the application types.

    hostname (config) #show fedp app-id stats top-25 for all-apps
