Upgrade using the CLI

Pre-requisites:

  • Download the firmware files to upgrade from the download server for 1G copper, 1G fiber, or 10G fiber.

  • Create a folder for each module and upload the folders to the /root/tftpboot directory on the TFPT server. For example, for a 10G fiber, create a folder fw3.3.6_10G and copy the related files including the update.desc file in the folder.

Steps:

  1. Login to the CLI console of the fail-open kit.

  2. Run the update command. Syntax for the update command is:

    update <IP address of the TFTP server> <module name>

    For example:

    • update 1.1.1.1 fw3.3.6_10G

    • update 1.1.1.1 fw3.3.6_1G_Fi

    • update 1.1.1.1 fw3.3.6_1G_Cu

    Sample output of the update command:

            adding file:
            "rootfs.ext2.gz.uboot_ibsgp-t-mc.3_0.3.3.6" -> "rootfs.ext2.gz.uboot"...
            Checking file "rootfs.ext2.gz.uboot" ... 
            Erasing, writing and verifying NAND
            Loading file:
            "uImage_ibsgp-t-mc.3_0.3.3.6" -> "uImage"... 
            Checking file "uImage" ... 
            New and current images are the same. 
            Continue with update? (Y/N) 
            Y 

    Note

    To downgrade the firmware, use the force option in the update command. For example, update 1.1.1.1 fw3.3.3_10G force
