The following includes several scenarios related to license assignment:
Scenario 1: When licenses are not assigned
When you click the
icon from the License column and no license is assigned to the selected cluster, the Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window displays a warning message.
To assign the license(s) for any cluster, follow the below steps:
Go to the Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window, and click Change License.
Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> windowThe Add or Change license for <Cluster_Name> window is displayed. Now, select the required license and click Assign.

You can select multiple licenses for the Sensors in the Manager.
When inadequate license(s) are assigned, the Add or Change license for <Cluster_Name> window displays a Warning message.
When you choose the expired license(s), the Assign will become disabled.
When you combine the expired license(s) and license(s) assigned to the other Sensors, the Assign will become disabled.
If no license(s) are available in the list, you can import the license(s) by selecting the
icon. Later, click Browse to import the required license(s) and select Add. An Informational dialog box appears, click OK.After the license(s) has been assigned, the Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window displays the set of license(s) assigned to the cluster.
Once all the required license(s) are assigned, the License column displays
Present in both the Sensors and vIPS Clusters tab of the Manager.
Scenario 2: When insufficient licenses are assigned
When you click the
icon from the License column, the Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window displays the list of assigned licenses along with an insufficient warning message.

To complete the license assignment, follow all the steps mentioned in Scenario 1: When licenses are not assigned.
Scenario 3: When assigned licenses get expire
When one or more licenses are expired in the cluster, a warning message is displayed along with the list of assigned licenses in the Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window upon selecting the
icon from the License column.

To complete the license assignment, follow all the steps mentioned in Scenario 1: When licenses are not assigned.
Scenario 4: When more licenses are allocated than the required capacity
When you try to assign licenses beyond the required capacity in the Add or Change license for <Cluster_Name> window, an error message is displayed.

Scenario 5: Replacing the assigned license(s)
To replace the assigned license(s), follow the below steps:
Go to the Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window, and click Change License.
The Add or Change license for <Cluster_Name> window is displayed.
Now, select the exact required license(s) and click Assign.
Scenario 6: Unassigning the license(s)
To unassign the assigned license, follow the below steps:
Go to the License column and select
. The Capacity license for: <Cluster_Name> window is displayed.Now, select the required license(s) from the list and click Unassign.
