Getting started with NS3600 Sensor

Note

This section provides step-by-step instructions on how to get started with the NS3600 Sensor. This includes a checklist of the topics that you should review before setting up the Sensor, its physical installation steps, cabling requirements, how to install interface and transceiver modules, steps to set it up with Trellix IPS Manager, and license requirements. Trellix recommends that you go through the entire hardware guide for a better understanding of how to configure and manage the Sensor.

  1. Before you start setting up the Trellix IPS NS3600 Sensor, do the following:

  2. Perform the physical installation of the Sensor:

  3. Attach the required cables to the Sensor:

  4. Install an Interface module:

    1. Learn about the network interface modules supported in NS3600 Sensor

      Caution

      Apart from the interface modules discussed in the topic above (that is, 4-port 10/1 GigE MM 50/62.5 μm with built-in fail open and 4-port RJ-45 1 Gbps/100 Mbps/10 Mbps with built-in fail open), no other interface modules are compatible with NS3600 Sensor.

    2. Install an interface module during a fresh installation of the Sensor.

  5. Install a transceiver module:

      Transceiver modules are supported only in the ports 5 and 6.

  6. Install the Trellix IPS Manager Software and then set up the Sensor with the Manager:
